We have many years of experience in both corporate recovery and restructuring and in managing one of the largest and most successful personal insolvency businesses in Scotland.  We can bring that large practice experience for a fraction of the cost of a large practice.

For both individuals and businesses needing help and advice, our initial conversations are free and without obligation. We don’t mind meeting people and having a chat over a coffee to explore whether there is anything we can do to help. Fees only charged once a client has agreed to engage our services.

Initial advice and conversations, whether on the phone, via email, our anonymous chat facility on here or face to face are free and without obligation

Here at 180 we offer the following services for our business clients:

Business recovery advice aimed at SMEs and owner managed businesses. Helping avoid formal insolvency or ensuring the viable underlying business survives and thrives for the future.

We have experience in preparing independent business reviews (at the behest of either the business itself or more usually their bank).  We can quickly understand the underlying problems and issues and provide proposals and recommendations.  We work with businesses (companies, partnerships, unincorporated businesses and sole traders) to help them make the required changes to safeguard their future and avoid formal insolvency.  Restructuring is usually a confidential way to save a Company or part of it and avoid insolvency.

Following on from the above a more formal appointment may be required in order to provide a safeguard from creditor action while a restructuring plan is put into action.  This can be done via a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).  A CVA is a legally binding agreement between the Company and its creditors.  The main point to note is the word “agreement”.  The Company’s creditors will agree to not take action and agree a time period for the repayment of some or all of their debt.  The most important aspect to note is that the proposal or plan put to creditors has been reviewed and approved by an insolvency practitioner who will then supervise its implementation.  In order to succeed the directors of the Company must make actual and often significant changes  which may include director and management changes, the introduction of additional funding, new customers etc.  A CVA is not simply a vehicle to write of debt and hope things will get better as a result of just this.  In a CVA the Directors remain in control of the Company.

A CVA is a form of insolvency and will be public knowledge but it does allow the legal entity of the Company to continue with the agreement of its creditors.

Administration and Liquidation

These are formal insolvency appointments where an Insolvency Practitioner is appointed to run the Company.  Normally it will mean the end of the Company but not necessarily the end for the business.  We will always strive to sell any underlying and viable part of the business as a going concern and save as many jobs as possible.
